On Friday at 5pm, while many enjoyed their happy hour sliders at Rouge, an intoxicated man was stabbed right at the corner of 18th and Walnut. “A doorman at one of the luxury highrises surrounding the park described the men as appearing to be homeless.” The actual violence was a brief respite from the robbery committed every night at Parc for a glass of Riesling.
Let’s play a game. A “fully fit-out restaurant/bar” with “incredible architecture with high ceilings” is up for sale, complete with kitchen equipment, table and chairs. Hmm. What restaurant near Second and Chestnut fits that description? Is it trendy Dolce or perhaps Paradigm? Your guess? UPDATE: Robert La Scala (who operates LaScala’s at 615 Chestnut Street) has bought the license for Dolce/Paradigm and is moving forward to own these businesses.
Charlie Vatori, the current owner of Charlie’s Pub at 114 N. Third Street, would love to take over 17 N. Third Street (the former Carmelita Boutique), but it hasn’t proved so easy for him. Mayor Michael Nutter may not want to remember this, but 21 years ago he took the mic with councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown and federal judge Renee Cardwell Hughes at the Leadership Philadelphia‘s 30th anniversary. If only politics were this fun today.
