Last summer, we gave you a big picture look at the tremendous amount of student housing development that’s going on around Temple University. One of the photos that we used in that post showed five homes on the 1800 block of North 17th St. in the process of being constructed. Check it out.

Last July

Completed in the fall. Shiny bays.

To the north of these buildings (excepting the lot immediately to the north which is owned by another party), the same developer is constructing six more.

Looking south, we see the new buildings are framed out

Closer look

The new buildings will be duplexes and will almost definitely be offered as rentals for student housing. Like the development next door, the southernmost building will have a garage entrance to provide access to parking spaces for each unit.

We know that we’re sounding like a broken record here, but the redevelopment of this area in recent years is simply incredible. And this block really puts the transformation of the neighborhood clearly into perspective. To give you an idea, check out what this block looked like just a couple of years ago:

Bit of a change, huh?

And as we’ll continue to remind you, the projects just keep on coming.
