Or just mostly happened?

What's behind the tarp?

Last week, a variance was granted for the complete reconstruction of 1533 Manton St. on an existing foundation, with new front, side, and rear walls, and new floor and roof joists. Taking a quick glance at the building, you would think that this is work that has yet to be performed. Turns out, some of the work has already been done.

The property is currently listed for sale for $79,900. The listing states that the back of the house has been demoed and replaced with a block rear with vinyl siding. The floor joists and roof have also been replaced. Five new windows and a back door come with the home, but have not been installed. We’re also guessing that the tarp is up because a new facade hasn’t been installed/completed. We’re doubting that the owner will get his desired price, and having a rough-looking shell next door certainly isn’t going to help.

Ugly and uglier

While there are several rehabs and at least one new construction home on this block, we don’t know that a new owner could get much more than $120K-$130K for this house, once completed. Perhaps if the current owner is willing/able to come down some on that asking price, he’ll have better luck selling the property.
