The Broad St. Diner, at the corner of Broad and Ellsworth Sts., will apparently live once more after having been closed for the past several years. As we learned yesterday from Michael Klein, Michael Petrogiannis, the gentleman who owns the Melrose along with several other diners, will be running the show. Exciting news for everyone in the area who has had to shlep to South St. or the Melrose in recent years to get their diner fix.

Broad St. Diner sits on an interesting stretch of Broad St., right between two other long-shuttered establishments. Hopefully, the others will similarly be taken over by a local restauranteur who will restore them to their former glory. All three places have wonderful signs that we’re hoping will someday be restored as well.

Ahhh, ribs!

The old Philip's Restaurant, directly to the south

The legendary Boot Bar, just across Ellsworth St.

With momentum from a new Broad St. Diner, we’re hoping that some entrepreneur will see an opportunity at one of the two other places. Additional development is going on right down the street, so it almost seems like a no-brainer, right? Just please let someone reopen the Boot & Saddle sometime soon- we could really go for a good hootenanny.
