This building, right across from El Jarocho (mmm… that pink salsa…) contains the bones of an old-timey pharmacy on the first floor and apartments on the second and third floors. In 2009, the owners went before the ZBA to propose the addition of a 4th story stair tower and two rooftop decks to this building but nothing has happened on the site since. Recently, we got a tip from a reader that some construction was going on over here, but it doesn’t seem related to building roof decks.

A little construction goin' on

We were in the first floor space a couple of years ago and were impressed by the old cabinets and counters, but it was clear that the rest of the place needed to be completely renovated. In a neighborhood that has plenty of bars and restaurants within a reasonable walking distance, we’re not sure what would be an appropriate use for this retail space. Are we out of our minds hoping for the reincarnation of the Phantom Fountain?
