We rarely find ourselves winding through the hills of Manayunk or Roxborough, but we took a little jaunt up Ridge Avenue today to sneak a peek at a couple of projects we’ve heard about in recent weeks and we were reminded that we really should make the trek more often. The first project we came upon was The Cliff Townhomes, located at the corner of Leverington & Silverwood.

Eight homes so far

According to Newsworks, this project was approved way back in the fall of 2011 by the community, though based on the visible progress, we’d imagine that the project took a little while to get underway after receiving those approvals. According to the permits, what you see above is only half of the project- another nine homes will eventually be constructed, fronting Silverwood Street.

Site of future homes. Construction in the distance not part of this development.

Rear of the existing homes. As you can see, parking will be in the rear.

The developer, A. Thomas Properties, has done other sale and rental properties in Manayunk, East Falls, and the burbs, so we’d imagine that the challenge inherent in building on hills is not one they haven’t encountered before. The look of the homes will be fairly pedestrian, but they will have some pretty wonderful views.

Rendering of the homes

Expected view from rear decks. Not too shabby.

The Newsworks story predicted that the homes would be listed for just under $500K. We’re not sure whether that’s still the number, but with the views we’re expecting these 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom homes to have, they might be worth it on that alone. We’ll check back in here once the first run of homes are finished and the second series of homes are underway to see whether the homes are selling, and at the prices the developers are hoping for.
