Every Philadelphian remembers the famous scene in Rocky, where the Italian Stallion runs through the Italian Market while training for the big fight with Apollo Creed. The market and its surroundings have changed some in the past twenty-five years, with the addition of several taquerias on 9th Street and the proliferation of Asian restaurants on Washington Avenue.

Tonight, the history and the modern diversity of the Italian Market will be celebrated with the latest Night Market event, brought to us by the Food Trust. As always, merchants will include both establishments from the area, along with a selection of food trucks and independent vendors. Take a look at this map:

Lots of good stuff

Food vendors will include 9th Street businesses Esposito’s, DiBruno’s, Anthony’s Coffee House, among others. Food truck participants will include Little Baby Ice Cream, Rival Brothers, and Dapper Dog. Restaurants will also be there, with representation from Tashan, Cantina Los Caballitos, and Cuba Libre. Arts and Crafts booths, curated by Renaissance Craftables will give you something to do other than gorge yourself, as will live music at three stages.

?uestlove Fried Chicken will also be there, but tickets are all sold out. <Insert sad face here>

Oh, and thousands of people are probably gonna show up, since it’s looking like a nice night, and the Phillies played a day game. So maybe get there early. And don’t even think about driving.

See you there?
