In the fall of 2011, we first told you about the demolition of Matheson Hall on the 3200 block of Market Street, precipitated by plans for the construction of a new home for Drexel’s LeBow School of Business. Within a few months, demolition was finished and a new foundation was being dug. Over a year later, there’s been quite a bit of progress.

Closer look

The building, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York and local firm Voith & Mactavish Architects, looks like it should be ready by the time the new school year rolls around. Kudos to Drexel for replacing a worn-out old building with a handsome and contemporary new one. Hopefully, this new building will provide a place to educate business leaders of the future for decades to come.
