Back in February we reported the opening of Sweetgreen
, and this gorgeous and mild Philadelphia winter must have just helped time just fly by; Sweetgreen officially opens today at 3925 Walnut Street as an addition to the Radian. “Our newest location in Philadelphia reminds us of the first Sweetgreen we ever opened when we were seniors at Georgetown,” said Nathaniel Ru, co-founder of Sweetgreen. “We have grown quickly, but seven locations later, Sweetgreen retains the same charm and no location will capture it better than the UPenn location.” Sweetgreen is committed to sustainability and will use alternative energy to power this location and will source local and organic ingredients, partnering with Fair Food Philadelphia to supply farm-fresh ingredients at the UPenn location (a special list on display at Sweetgreen shows what is local and in season). For ingredients that cannot be sourced within 100 miles, Sweetgreen tells us they have a relationship with Stonyfield Farm and Honest Tea to bring in fresh food year-round. The interior wood detailing and furniture at 3925 Walnut was crafted by Staach, whose pieces have been featured in New York Magazine and The New York Times.
