After nearly a year in the making, it seems like things may finally be coming together at the section of Clark Park, which borders Baltimore Avenue (known as Park A). The month of May has seen several small, but meaningful milestones: the grass was cut for the first time on May 10, on May 26 the reopening of the Farmer’s Market was announced, and on the night of May 26 the lights were lit for the first time since September 2010. The committee, which is in charge of redesigning the park (Friends of Clark Park), emphasizes the importance of having more lush grass areas, an idea that they are now set on bringing to both Park B and C of Clark Park, especially in the Bowl.

It looks like now that northern Clark Park is set to reopen on June 16 the rest of Clark Park may soon be closing for further renovations. “As we have just seen in the North Park, rehabbing an old park is just as onerous, technical, and lengthy as rehabbing an old building is,” says the website. “So construction here could knock users out of this section of the park for a couple of seasons.” —Alex Graziano
