Almost a year ago (wow, how time flies), we told you about Queen’s Walk, a sixteen-home development under construction at the corner of 5th and Montrose Sts., formerly the site of a dessert topping manufacturer. At the time, the development consisted of wood framing and some foundations.

Way in the past

Last April

As the past ten months have gone by, these new buildings, designed by JKR Partners, have been completed and almost fully rented. The finished product looks pretty good.

At this time, only two of the sixteen homes are still available for rent. Prices for the remaining homes in this gated community, according to Craigslist, are at $2,450/month. The homes include about 2100 sqft of living space, with 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and a garage parking spot.

Like the Salter Mews development at 3rd St., Queen’s Walk takes a daring approach for its location. Though this is still Queen Village, the Southwark Public Housing Project lies between 3rd and 5th Sts., and many developers have hesitated to do large scale, high end development south of Christian Street in this area. But these two developers have taken that plunge.

And with only two units left to rent, it appears that Queen’s Walk is a success story.
