In January, we told you about a proposed mixed-use development for a large corner parcel in Point Breeze that’s currently a vacant lot. The corner of Point Breeze & Titan, which has attracted a handsome garden built by members of the community, has not had a building on it for over a decade. OCF Holdings had proposed thirteen apartments with a commercial space on the first floor.

The development went before the community last winter in a series of absurd meetings which culminated in a counterproposal of a four story medical center with a helipad. Despite the objections of several “concerned” community members, the ZBA gave approval to the project. This approval was, as you can imagine, swiftly appealed.

But ah, some good news! In the Court of Common Pleas, this appeal was denied today. With the appeal thrown out, the development should be ready to break ground in the next couple of months, setting the stage for a dramatic improvement to a stretch of Point Breeze Avenue that’s crying out for new investment.

Win some, lose some, huh?
