According to a zoning application from January, vacant lot 949-51 N Lawrence St. will soon contain two new single family homes with roof decks and garages.

Integrity Building Group is responsible for this new development, which was supported by NLNA, according to zoning chair Larry Freedman. This builder has done some work in the past on this charming block, which features a mix of two, two-and-a-half, and three story homes.

This project is just a half a block north of another project that we originally covered back in October. At that time, 424-28 Poplar St. were mere foundations, but some serious new structures have risen in the interim. According to a reader who was interesting in purchasing one of these new homes, they are apparently destined for the rental market. Kind of a shame, no?

Now that we think about it, shouldn’t this project be a little further along? Sure, it’s a lot of facade, but shouldn’t that part be completed after five months? Neighbors, have you noticed slow going on this project?

Nevertheless, it’s good to see the shrinking number of vacant lots in Northern Liberties continue to be developed. Now if only some of the property owners on 2nd Street could get that memo…
