The Pennsylvania Community Transportation Initiative granted $1.3M for a new Manayunk Bridge Trail as part of its “Smart Transportation” grants (outing one of the near 200 applications that were rejected). This path will extend the Cynwyd Heritage Trail over the historic Manayunk Viaduct. Manayunk is already a huge cycling neighborhood and this trail will be a welcome shortcut for bikers who have to squeeze next to cars on Green Lane to get to the great hills around Conshohocken State Road and Bala Cynwyd athletes looking for an easier way to get to the Tow Path. The PCTI also granted a little more than $1M for the Race Street Pier Connection Project.
