Over the summer, we gave you the lowdown on Rodin Square, the excellent looking mixed-use development planned for 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. For many years, this location has been home to a Best Western Hotel whose appearance didn't exactly inspire wonder in the architecture fans among us. Today, we passed by the hotel and noticed that it has shut its doors.

If you look carefully at the photo above, you'll notice that the Best Western name has been covered over on the awning, leaving a generic "Center City Hotel" sign above the former entrance. But this awning, like the rest of the building, will soon disappear. In its place will rise this building:

For this to arrive, we are, to say the least, really excited. Counting down the days years.
