Back in October, we brought 1900-08 Poplar St. to your attention. As we explained at that time, this corner was home to American Methodist Episcopal Zionists for decades, but the church was demolished last summer.

Last summer

A couple of weeks ago

Last month, TBM Group Inc., the developer that purchased the church for $586K (who you may also remember as the folks behind the G-Ho Special on the 2300 block of Carpenter St.), went before the ZBA to present their revised plans for this site. According to this thread on Philadelphia Speaks, TBM received the neighborhood’s support for the project by a rather slim margin.

According to the zoning application, the developer intends to build five duplexes on this site. The homes will have roof decks, but no parking. From what we understand, the intention is to market these units as condos. Readers who attended the community meeting where this project was presented- should we expect something that looks like this?

TMB project on 2300 block of Carpenter St.

Meanwhile, Michael Loonstyn has a plan for a huge project immediately to the south of TBM’s project (more on that soon). And if only someone could redevelop the post office across the street, this intersection could really be cookin’. Kind of like just about every other intersection in Francisville these days.
