We’ve written about the corner of Frankford & Montgomery a couple of times, first bringing three new buildings under construction to your attention last August. We returned to this intersection a year ago, telling you about a short-lived “casino” at 1802 Frankford Ave. that was pretty much doomed from the get-go. Now, further changes are on the horizon for a corner that once looked like this:
The corner property, as you can see, is completed, with two 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments on the upper floors and a vacant commercial space on the first floor. The apartments were on the market as condos at $235K, but were taken off over the summer and were probably rented out. The owners are looking for $2,000/mo for the commercial space.
Meanwhile, foundations have appeared immediately behind the new corner property.
As you can see, two square-shaped foundations have been poured, ostensibly with the plan to build two more homes behind the new mixed-use building. We’re having trouble finding out details about this additional development, since the lots were originally part of the same gigantic parcel as the mixed use building until the lot lines were changed in 2010. Does anyone in the neighborhood know the details about these two foundations?
Either way, it’s great to see some additional development on and just off of Frankford Avenue.
