Head up the 2000 block of E. Arizona St., and you’ll find a couple of homes, some converted warehouses, some vacant land, and what look like shuttered garages. But soon enough, those garages, which currently look awful, will disappear into the ether. In their place will rise four new homes.

Looking up the block

These look really bad

According to public record, M2CR2 LLC purchased 2023-31 E. Arizona St. back in August for $225K. Either they have hired BMK Properties to develop this property for them, or the LLC is simply a holding company for the guys at BMK. Whichever it is, earlier this month, they were able to get a variance to build four new homes on this site.

The homes will have about 1,800 sqft of living space with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Since they’re going up on lots that are 81 feet deep, they will boast enormous rear yards that will pretty much match the footprint of the homes themselves. Certainly something that we don’t often see in new construction homes these days. One of the houses is currently listed for just under $300K, and the others are listed at $325K. For all that space, those prices certainly seem reasonable.

This development is taking place just a short distance from a great deal of other development in East Kensington. Amber Street has seen some of the most interesting architecture in the city. An unusual home on Coral Street just recently went under contract. One-off projects are taking place on Fletcher Street and Dauphin Street. Yes, things are blowing up right now in East Kensington. And we’ll be ever on the lookout for what’s coming next.
