Former Swift Half (R.I.P.) bartender John Boswell (more recently a manager at guacamole heaven El Vez) is looking to turn what is currently The Corner Spot, located at 2253 East Clearfield Street, into Port Richmond Pour House. PRPH, a classy establishment whose tagline is “The joint where the neighborhood meets to drink beer and talk sh*t”), has plans to gradually transform (eta April) the 700-square-foot location into a laid-back neighborhood bar where guests can enjoy a frill-free atmosphere (which, judging by the picture, it already is).

The renovated space will offer all-American craft beers, which will be accompanied by a simplistic menu (items undecided) prepared with sustainable, locally sourced ingredients at an affordable price point. Boswell says he will not be competing with the well-established beer bar (Memphis Taproom), as PRPH will offer exclusively American craft beers and the competitor focuses more on being a gastropub. Port Richmond Pour House will complete this gradual transformation of Corner Bar in the next couple months to come.
