Over the winter, we checked in on the 26th Precinct Police Station on Trenton Avenue, noting that a long-anticipated renovation was almost complete. At that time, residents had begun to move into the building, but the promised bank on the first floor had not yet appeared. But wouldn’t you know, in mid-April, a PFCU opened, putting a bow on a building brought back from the dead.

Current view

In general, we think the renovation of this building was well done. We do wonder though, whether the bank could have chosen a slightly more historically sensitive front door? And okay, maybe we would have gone with some different windows, too.

The questionable door

But aside from these small details, we’re pleased as punch with this renovation. And it certainly beats the wrecking ball.
