A reader gave us the heads up that site work had begun at 1214-20 Crease St., just down the street from a progressing seven-home development that we’ve already told you about a couple of times. The new project is replacing a rather large, long vacant lot that we imagine once contained a warehouse and goes street to street between Crease and Day Sts.
According to the zoning application, this new project will include the construction of fourteen new single family homes. Seven will front Crease Street, and the other seven will front Day Street. The application, which was filed back in 2011, also references open air parking spaces for each of the homes. From what we can tell, the only way this is possible would be open air parking spaces in front of each of the homes. Can someone from the neighborhood who attending meetings about this almost two years ago confirm?
Check out the progress from a couple of days ago. The workers are digging a pretty large hole.
It’s very encouraging to see yet another large scale residential project moving forward in Fishtown. It’s particularly nice to see that a large vacant lot is being filled in to close to both Girard and Frankford Avenues. One thing that we did notice when we were over there that might be a strong selling point for these homes: A faint smell of Indian spices, likely emanating from Ekta, located maybe 150 yards away. Was it real? Or just wishful smelling? Check it out for yourself!
