You may recall, we’ve been keeping you abreast of the efforts of the Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation, revitalizing buildings on Passyunk Avenue (‘natch). Back in March, we checked in on 1911 E Passyunk Ave., a property that was early in the stages of renovation at that point. This storefront had looked terrible as recently as the beginning of this year. Now, through the efforts of PARC, the building looks one-hundred percent better, and a new tenant will be opening up shop in just a couple of days.

Already better by March

According to Michael Klein, Will BYOB will be opening at 1911 E Passyunk Ave. on August 24th. The modern French establishment will attempt to use mostly local ingredients, certainly a praiseworthy goal. We can’t imagine this would have been nearly as attractive a location for this new establishment without PARC completely rehabbing the facade of the building.

But they aren’t done yet. Our friends at Passyunk Post tell us that PARC has plans to expand their facade restoration program to privately owned properties. This new program, which will start with five buildings on the Avenue, will combine funding from City programs, investments by property owners, and contributions from PARC. The first five properties on the agenda are Mamma Maria, Sermania Jewelers, B2, Avenue Cheese and Today’s Styles.

Today's Styles could use the help

Ditto the cheese shop

These improvements will make Passyunk Avenue an even nicer place to visit, and simply reinforces that the Avenue is a great place to do business. Way to go, PARC!
