Over the summer, we wondered about two liquor license application in the window of 1306-12 Frankford Ave., a renovated and subdivided commercial building that we originally featured months before. And now, in the next couple of days, a business utilizing one of those applications will be opening its doors.

Bottle Bar East

According to their Facebook page, Bottle Bar East should be arriving on the Frankford Ave. scene in a matter of days. Foobooz tells us that this establishment will both function as a craft beer store as well as a bar, allowing customers to stock up their homes with their favorite microbrews, or hang out and shoot some pool while sipping obscure imports from Belgium. Food won’t be offered right out of the chute, but it could arrive at some point in the future.

From further back

This store is yet another addition to the rapidly growing commercial corridor of Frankford Avenue. With the Bottle Bar eclipsing Fette Sau as the latest new face, which replaced Pizza Brain just a couple of weeks ago, the food and drink options for Fishtowners (and visitors) continue to grow. And isn’t that a big reason why people move to neighborhoods in the first place?

As far as the other commercial spaces in the building, they remain vacant with no work ongoing whatsoever. So it will be a few months at least before Bottle Bar East has any immediate next door neighbors. But given the momentum we’re seeing in the area, it shouldn’t be too long before it does.
