Gardens, green roofs and garages are three things you don’t often see in the city (at least not all together, unless you’re the guy who owns that killer mansion with the 5-car garage and landscaped front yard at 3rd and Walnut). The new gated community at 48th Street, West Village, is a residential construction of 86 bi-level and rent-able town homes from the same guys who brought you the homes at 16th and South and 919 N. Front Street, B&T Home Builders’ Hillel Tsarfati and Moshe Barazani.

The location in West Philly is one that lends itself to lots of space for this a development of this scale. (West Village actually just bought the warehouse adjacent to Brown Street’s West Village and will probably continue to develop that in the same manner.) While most people know West Philly from negative news headlines, there are great blocks hidden away, and hopefully this development will help West Philly grow into a more stable community. Currently in Phase 1, West Village is mostly three- and four-bedroom homes, both with one-car garages and priced upwards of $1500 a month.
