A reader tipped us off about some construction on the trolley tracks between Frankford Ave. and 2nd St., in the middle of Girard Ave.

Looking east

Looking west

These tracks, used by Septa Route 15, appear to be receiving simple upgrades to make the ride smoother for passengers.

Route 15 was one of three Septa trolley routes, along with 23 and 56, that were suspended in the early 1990’s. Though trolley service resumed on Route 15 in 2005, buses are still the mode of transportation on those other two routes. It’s unclear when, or if trolleys will ever be seen again on either route.

We should see trolley service resume on Route 15 by the end of March. Til then, expect a little extra traffic on Girard Ave.
