Finally, Philly, we will be getting a chance to relive the inner Cru Jones in all of us. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and others are teaming up to bring us the Rad-inspired bike park, Philly Pumptrack.
The project, yet to establish a firm location, is looking to build up a following through promotions and word of mouth. By looking to bring one of the fastest growing elements of the two-wheeled ilk to Philly, the organizers are hoping that they can, according to their website, “…provide a place for urban youth and adults, close to their homes, where they can ride bikes in safe numbers and in mixed-age groups.” It is, we believe, a project that any number of neighborhoods could benefit from. We are looking at you here, Strawberry Mansion, with your under-used Robin Hood Dell East.
Any donations of time, services and/or cash will be appreciated and received via the projects leaders organizations or through Philly Pumptrack’s Facebook page. (Also, be sure to log on to vote for the official logo.)
We expect we’ll be pulling off back-flips at our own Helltrack in no time.
