We may think that the new plan for the Delaware Waterfront is not so great, but it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do your best to enjoy what we’ve got right now. Starting tonight and continuing all weekend, Wawa’s Welcome America celebration gets underway with Taste of Philadelphia. All weekend, some popular restaurants and food trucks in town will be serving small sized samples of their delicious offerings to sweaty people on Penns Landing. Participating restaurants and food trucks include: Cuba Libre, Tiffin, Dapper Dog, Sampan, Jamaican Jerk Hut, and a few dozen others.

Taste of Philadelphia runs tonight from 5pm-9pm, and continues Saturday 11am-10pm, and Sunday 11am-7pm. Admission is free, but the “tastes” from the various restaurants are not. There will be numerous performances throughout the weekend, with Aaron Neville and fireworks over the river capping off Saturday’s festivities. Who said that going to the shore was the thing to do this summer? Wait, where is everybody going?
