AMF Boulevard Lanes, located at 8011 Roosevelt Boulevard closed its doors for good this past Sunday. The bowling locale’s lease was up and, due to the high cost of rent, AMF decided that it was not worth the price to renew the lease. While it’s unclear what will become of the building in the future, there has been a rumor circulating that Nazareth Hospital has purchased the lot with plans to demolish the building, then develop a parking garage; however, this rumor is untrue according to Christy McCabe, director of marketing and communications at Nazareth.

Although many locals have been disappointed upon hearing the news, as Boulevard Lanes has provided endless bowling memories for over a decade, there are still a few options just in case you get the itch. Thunderbird Lanes is a short commute (3081 Holme Avenue) if you’re looking for somewhere “family-friendly,” as well as North Bowl in Northern Liberties and Lucky Strike in Center City for a more “21-and-over” vibe.

For those of you who were looking to take advantage of the closing to stock up on heavily-used bowling gear/equipment, AMF Boulevard Lanes will not be selling what remains of theirs. We will be anxious to see who/what moves into the space in the future. —-Kaitlin Bostwick
