The Community Design Collaborative
and the Delaware Valley Green Building Council are co-hosting the Design Charrette today with sustainable groups SHARE, Green Village Philadelphia, Common Market and United Way’s teacher supply program. The design charrette will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia until 4pm, and will serve to help these groups re-imagine their 17,000-square-foot “home” at 2901 W. Hunting Park Avenue (an old industrial site) as a “green, mixed-use marketplace that will serve as a community hub and catalyst for neighborhood revitalization.” The ideas that come out of today’s design charrette will give direction and inspiration for the site’s master plan, a place where SHARE has already established a food distribution center, an organic farm and a bee-keeping operation.
