Center City is about to get its very own 478-square-foot Krispy Kreme donut shop at the old Rite Aid locale at 1535 Chestnut Street (Children’s Place will take the 1729-square-foot corner lot), part of Philly brothers’ Brian Zaslow and Keith Morgan plan to bring 21 Krispy Kremes to Philly. Gardener/Fox is running the project and has plans for a visible-from-the-street area of the kitchen where street-goers will have the opportunity to watch the best part in the donut-making process: the tasty treats being dipped into the never-ending vat of glaze that makes Krispy Kremes what they are (do they sell gym memberships too?). This will be the second location opening up in the surrounding area (there is also one in Fox Chase) and it is set for completion in May of this year. With five neon signs going up and the smell of donuts in the air, we are sure passersby won’t be able to resist.
