Front page on Philly.com today is the continuation of one of Nakedphilly’s stories from late March, the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s $1M lesson in listening to the community. This time the argument is over parking; “PHA submitted a plan without parking or an approved loading zone on 20th Street to accommodate vans or buses for the handicapped” for their building, but they are now claiming they did provide parking spots for loading and unloading on the north and south sides of the building. Really? Sure they did; and that eighth grade paper we wrote on Thoreau’s theory of existentialism did have a footnote for the plagerized paragraph we took from a Google search.

We drove down to the property to photograph this so called “parking spot” that has been built for the handicap vans. Turns out we were wrong, there is a parking spot there, big enough for a clown car (a pole in the middle of the “spot” seems a bit counterintuitive). What is PHA doing? If they could just get their heads straight and admit to and then fix their mistake, they could concentrate their energy on a solution (like razing the properties they own across the street to create more parking spots) rather than coming up with these ridiculous rebuttals.
