In recent months we've covered a few Fishtown projects located right next to Aramingo Avenue, like three homes currently under construction on E. Cumberland St. and two new homes on Gaul Street, across from the Sergeant Storage facility. So it comes as no surprise that we're now seeing plans for a significant project at 2640 E. Huntingdon Ave., on the other side of Aramingo Avenue. Today, there's a building at this location, built as the P.E. Church of the Messiah. After it was a church, the building was a social club for many years, but it was apparently a nuisance club at some point as well. In recent years, it has sat vacant.
Though traditionally OCF has built homes in Point Breeze, this project will represent a foray into a new neighborhood. They've hired JKRP Architects to design an eleven-home project on this site, with eight homes fronting Huntingdon Street and three homes fronting Thompson Street. The project will have 1:1 parking, with a parking lot accessed via Webb Street. Currently, the developer is trying to figure out a final look for the homes, and is considering different brick choices. Here, see what you think of the current options:
What do you think about the project? Do you prefer any of the designs? Do you like the contemporary look, or would you prefer something more traditional? One thing we can say for sure with this project is that it portends additional development on this side of Aramingo, so look for more projects in this pocket in the near future.
