This neighborhood, home to some of the most gorgeous homes in the city, has commercial corridors at its northern and eastern edges. To the north is Fairmount Avenue, home to shops, bars, restaurants, and the historic Eastern State Penitentiary. To the east is North Broad Street, which has seen renewed interest in recent years with new mixed-use conversions that have included several high-end restaurants. In the historic neighborhood itself, you can find former mansions that have been converted into apartments, churches that were converted into condos, and some magnificently restored homes. And let’s not forget that there’s very easy access to all of the city’s best museums.
